Bio: I am an award-winning, multi-published, and best-selling author with Bookstrand Publishing, Champagne Books, The Wild Rose Press, and Carnal Passions. Most of my reviewers have given me the title of Queen Of Sexual Tension. Married with kids (and three grandchildren), I have lived in Utah all of my life and enjoy family activities when I'm not writing my next sensual story. What genre/s would you like to write in?: I prefer to write historicals - which I have published more of, but I will still have the urge to write a contemporary, or romantic suspense, or paranormal.
Please share with us who or what encourages you to write and why?: When I first started reading romance, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Judith McNaught, and LaVryle Spencer were the top of my list. I never thought of being a writer, except I never did enjoy a story that didn't have a happy-ever-after. When I dreamed at night, my dreams were in movie form. After watching a very bad movie one night (with no HEA), I went to sleep and dreamed a story. The next morning, I decided to write it, just to see if I could. That's all it took to kick-start my muse. Now, 65+ stories later, I'm still writing!
How long did it take for you to write your book/s?: When I first started writing, it only took me approximately six weeks to write a full length novel - and that was writing with a notepad and pencil. Now that I have a computer, it's faster. If only I didn't have that stinkin' full time job... But if I put my mind to it, I can still finish a full length novel in three months.
How long did it take for you to publish your book/s?: When I first started querying big publishers (Avon, Harlequin, Kensington, etc) and getting nothing but rejections, I decided to give epublishers a try. The first story I submitted was taken right away. It's been like that ever since. Of course I'm still trying to get with the big publishers, but until I do, I'm learning a lot about publishing.
Who did you publish with and why?: The first publisher to take me on was New Concepts Publishing. At that time, I wanted one publisher for my contemporary stories, and a different publisher for my historicals - using two pen names. Then I found Champagne Books for my historicals...but I was so impressed with the way they ran their company, that I stuck with them. Then I found The Wild Rose Press and liked what they had to offer. Now I'm with Bookstrand Publishing, and so far I like what they have.
Why am I with so many? Haven't you heard never to put all your eggs in one basket? lol
Please share with us how you prefer to market your book/s?: I do a lot of online marketing. I make friends easy, and I love to chat and do author days on Yahoo loops. I'm also learned a lot of marketing skills from being with Romance Writers Of America for several years. Word of mouth is the best way, I think, and I'm a firm believer of giving some stories away just to gain a reader.
Please share with us any event/s that you have planned in marketing your book/s: Wouldn't you know, I have an event coming this next week (Oct 9 & 10) in Deer Valley. It's a writer's conference, and I'll be part of the booksigning. As soon as I get home from the conference, I'll be part of an online conference as a workshop presenter. I hope to market myself and my books that way.
