Independent author Sierra Rose has successfully developed an intriguingly unique paranormal romance series. Celtic Evil takes place in Dublin and tells the story of Roarke, the fourth born in the Fitzgerald “circle of five.”

The first in the Fitzgerald Brother series, Roarke is filled with magic, charm and enchantment. The Prologue introduces the reader to the evil Sebastian, casting a spell of destruction on the family five: “A circle of light, a circle of five. Five into one, one becomes five to unite the circle and protect the light.” The novel is filled with an exceptional combination of poetic prose and thrills.

Roarke’s story is unique because as a witness to the murder of his parents, he has led an emotionally troubled youth. After years of keeping his secret safe, he is forced to deal with his painful memories in order to keep those closest to him safe. Roarke’s story is one of redemption and love.

Well-written and equally spellbinding, Sierra Rose has developed a creative series with characters to love and adore. Her research is deeply imaginative. Sierra’s website features an in-depth character list, causing the reader to patiently ponder the next in the series

Flames of Betrayal, by Indie author Sierra Rose, is the first in the S.E.A.L. Team Omega thriller series. Examiner readers may remember Rose from the Fitzgerald brother series, Celtic Evil, but the author’s muse has led her to a new promising series. What has always captivated this Books Examiner with Rose’s work is the sheer magnitude of devotion she has to her muse. There is not one loose thread with her character development, and it shouldn't have surprised me so much to see a Roll call for the first few pages of Flames of Betrayal.

The first in the series starts strong by introducing readers to the characters and basic tensions in the plot. Team Omega's plans to raid a ship suspected of carrying uranium are thwarted, leaving head honcho Ethan Tremayne for dead. The Team answers to Navy Intelligence and when an order comes to dismiss a rescue plan for Tremayne and his crew, Commander Cassidy Marshall and her team smell something fishy. Going against highest orders, Cassidy attempts to rescue Tremayne, but the tables are turned when she is captured by Black Ops. Tremayne is left to not only rescue Cassidy, but also discover the true intentions of someone working high up in Navy Intelligence.

Cassidy Marshall had been searching the now calm ocean water with telescopic sights of a rifle. “They have a beacon and we have the frequency. Reese, any luck?” she asked.

Reese Fletcher was trying to fly low to the water without crashing while still keeping an eye on the panels in front of him and still work the cloaking device they had to keep them hidden from the Navy. “The fact that I haven’t got us killed yet is luck but as to picking up any signals, no,” he called back, meeting his best friend’s eyes and acknowledging the grim truth.

“The odds of finding them alive are slim, Cass, you have to accept that,” West finally had to say, seeing the girl tense and ignore him. “No raft or human being, not even a SEAL, could survive a storm like that.”

She continued to watch the water for any signs of either life or anything that would say they were in the ballpark but all she saw was miles of empty water.

“Cassidy, eventually we’re going to have to face facts that Tremayne and the platoon are dead and return to ship and face that we screwed up.” West had already prepared himself for the anger he saw when she finally turned to face him.

“We turn back when I say and they aren’t dead until I see the bleedin’ bodies,” she replied firmly, meeting and holding his eyes as if daring him to argue.

Rose succeeds in creating characters that readers can relate to while at the same time staying true to the action that the plot demands. There were a few grammatical and punctuation errors that occasionally caused the Book Examiner’s mind to leave the world that Rose has clearly dedicated much time to creating. That being said, the plot was strong enough to save any punctuation errors that typically followed dialogue.

For Kindle owners, you can check out Flames of Betrayal for only $1.00 here. Paperback copies are available to purchase through Amazon for less than $12 and all readers can check out Sierra Rose’s Website, which includes a character list and preview of Flames of Betrayal. Rose is also a particpating author in Operation eBook Drop, a combined effort of author Edward Patterson and Smashwords to donate eBooks to deployed troops.
