"The Accidental Spy" by J R Lindermuth was the most astounding historical fiction I have ever read. Every line was a hook that kept me enthralled. The story takes place during the American Revolution and follows the exploits of Daniel McCracken a con man who doesn't care one way or another who wins the war. It is an amazing story of transformation as Daniel grows beyond his own wants and desires and learns to think of the needs of others. J R Lindermuth has written a very believable tale. It is as if he were actually there writing the events as they occurred. This is the best story I have read in a very long time. One that I would recommend as required High School reading.

Watch the Hour by J.R. Lindermuth is about life in the 1870’s for the cool miners who were being exploited by the industry. During the telling of the story you learn about the Mollies Maguires and how some thought they were helping the miners and why other thought they were terrorists.
Benjamin Franklin Yeager is a coal company police officer who does his best to follow orders but still be fair to the people, He knows that the Irish are human and deserve to be treated just the same as anyone else. In fact, he falls for an Irish beauty named Jennie at a time in our history when that was frowned upon. Ben struggles with both his job and wanting to be with the girl he loves.
I found this story to be completely engaging and I loved all the background history that Mr. Lindermuth provides his readers. I recommend this book to readers that enjoy historical fiction.
