How many book/s have you written?: one published, one book proposal with a publisher
Please share with us your book titles: No-Hassle Publishing: An Author's Guide to Today's Changing Industry - Published Feb. 2010
A Change of Faith - Not yet published
What genre/s would you like to write in?: non-fiction, historical fiction
Please share with us who or what encourages you to write and why?: Writing has been my passion since childhood. I made it my career in 1986, when I began working as a feature writer. For the next two decades, I continued running a writing/editing service (and still do) to help others with their writing needs. Then I wrote my publishing guide for authors and added in a publishing division to help new authors avoid getting scammed. I enjoy helping people, and I get to do what I do best!
How long did it take for you to write your book/s?: 6 months for the publishing guide, I'm still writing the other (off and on for 2 years).
How long did it take for you to publish your book/s?: Immediately, since I'm the publisher!
Who did you publish with and why?: I added in the publishing division to help authors in need of affordable, reliable, and ethical services, which seem to be lacking today in this industry. We needed to build titles to gain exposure, so I published my authors'guide--first as a free ebook and then as an inexpensive booklet--to help new authors and to serve as a marketing tool for my company.
Please share with us how you prefer to market your book/s?: I've had extremely good luck with the Internet book marketing services at www.bookcandystudios.com. Todd and Sandy have gone above and beyond my expectations, and we are growing at a nice pace.
Annie Jennings, a national P/R expert and icon in the industry, has been an invaluable source of support and promotion. She invited me to co-sponsor her seminar for 500+ authors worldwide. Her client list includes HUGE names, such as Maya Angelou, F. Lee Bailey, Dr Oz, Deepak Chopra, and the late Michael Jackson. It's an honor to be involved with Annie.
Please share with us any event/s that you have planned in marketing your book/s: I've done a national seminar on publishing for the Downtown Women's Club (DWC), am planning a webinar and other seminars, was invited to speak about publishing to a writers' group at Leslie University, did an interview for www.examiner.com, and a radio interview on WATD-FM's morning program. All of these opportunities allow me to also promote my book and my services.
Do you wish to share any additional information with our readers?: Social networking is important. I have a fan page on Facebook, belong to many LinkedIn groups and manage one of my own called Publishing Today, and also have a Twitter account (aflair4writing).
A must-have guide for the novice writer, which contains a wealth of information not found elsewhere. Authors will learn everything about publishing--from choosing a publisher, signing contracts, and purchasing an ISBN, to insider advice on what to avoid.
