Author Meeting Place Interviews Author BG Lashbrooks of French Lick, Indiana, USA
How many book/s have you written?: I have one out right now, and have two others completed and in the submission process.
Please share with us your book titles: My release is titled "Olivia's Journey".
What genre/s would you like to write in?: I enjoy writing romance. All of my works are predominately about the relationship between the two central characters. They may be involved in a mystery, they may be vampires, they may live in 1865--or all of these things--but at heart, my story will be a romance.
Please share with us who or what encourages you to write and why?: My husband encourages me. He knows that I am at my happiest when I am able to write, so he urges me to write when I am unhappy!
And my baby girl. I feel that she needs to see someone have goals and work toward acheiving them--and see someone doing what they love.
How long did it take for you to write your book/s?: I wrote OJ in about a year, I believe. I participated in a NANO event, then editted it. Of course, I didn't spend the entire year on that project; I work on several at a time.
How long did it take for you to publish your book/s?: I wrote OJ and forgot about it, actually. I had a busy few years after that. It was wrote in 2007 before my mother's cancer ordeal, before I got married, before I had a child and a host of other life events. I submitted it to Astraea Press in 2010.
Who did you publish with and why?: I published with the new epublisher Astraea Press because I know the editor who started the press. I was impressed with her professionalism and her geniune love for the written word and the business.
Astraea is a clean romance house and the quality of the stories they've released since opening is absolutely astounding.
Please share with us how you prefer to market your book/s?: I've worked in the marketing industry and I know that the best type of marketing is word-of-mouth. People share what they like in a story and they share what they don't. My hope is that people will like Olivia's Journey well enough to share the word!
