Gerald Griffin - Of Good and Evil
Gerald Griffin
Author Meeting Place Interviews Author Gerald G. Griffin of Gainesville, Georgia, United States

Bio: I was born in Flint, Michigan. Received my BBA from GMI, and my MA and Ph.D. in psychology from Michigan State University. Established a private practice as a Consulting Psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, specializing in psychotherapy, marriage counseling, diagnostic testing, and some industrial consultation. While in practice (18 years), I began writing --- producing four published books under my own name; one non-fiction, three fiction. In addtion, I ghost-wrote two non-fiction books.

I left my practice to enter fiction writing full-time, moving to Gainesville, Georgia.

How many book/s have you written?: I have writen several books, seven of them published (two ghost written).

Please share with us your book titles: THE SILENT MISERY--WHY MARRIAGES FAIL (non-fiction, 1974)
THE CORRUPTORS (fiction, 1977)
THE DEATH DISCIPLE (fiction, 1977)
THE LAST COMING (fiction, 1978)

GBI AGENT (non-fiction, 1987, ghost written)
TRAPPED IN THE LAWYERS' DEN WITH BLOODSUCKERS (non-fiction, 1988, ghost written)

OF GOOD AND EVIL (fiction, 2010)
A TIME OF RECKONING (fiction, sequel to OF GOOD AND EVIL, as yet unpublished)

What genre/s would you like to write in?: Presently I like to write in the suspense thriller genre

Please share with us who or what encourages you to write and why?: Initially, in my pre-high school days, as I read books, their stories triggered my imagination, stirring a passion within me to write. That passion has never left me. I wrote my first short novel in the 9th grade. Of course it was never published, but my teacher heard about it and read it chapter by chapter in class to my classmates, all of whom expressed exciting and growing interest (including the teacher)in what was being read. That hooked me on being a writer; not only encouraging me, but validating my ability.

And ever since, I have received that encouragement form others no matter what I wrote:
letters, short stories, a thesis, or what have you. After publication of my first novel, THE CORRUPTORS, I would hear from my readers such feedback as: "Keep on writing;" "Never stop writing;" "What an imagination;" and the like.

Robin Moore, the famous novelist, and a writing acquaintance, once told me: "Your writings remind me of Kurt Vonnegut." What an honor to be compared to that masterful writer. Talk about encouragement --- and validation!

So, in a nutshell, that which encourages me to write is my inner passion to do so, and my readers, including my friends and acquaintances). They want more, and I want to give them more. I love my readers. They sistain me.

That's why I write.

How long did it take for you to write your book/s?: It took many moons to write my books, my last novel two years, including research.

How long did it take for you to publish your book/s?: The length of time it took to publish my books varied with the book, but usually no more than a year.

Who did you publish with and why?: I published my first book, non-fiction, THE SILENT MISERY--WHY MARRIAGES FAIL, with Charles C. Thomas, because the publisher displayed the most interest in this work.

I published my next three books, THE CORRUPTORS. THE DEATH DISCIPLE; and THE LAST COMING, all novels, with Condor because Robin Moore was associated with the publisher and had great faith in these works.

I published my fifth book, OF GOOD AND EVIL, a novel, with Eloquent Books because they promised me the greatest marketing.

Please share with us how you prefer to market your book/s?: My greatest personal preference in marketing my book is through book signings because there I have direct contact and interchange --- fellowship---with my readers, backed up by newspaper interviews and radio and TV appearances.
But in this day and age, my strategic preference for marketing has to be with social media on the Internet. Contact with the most readers the quickest. That's the way of marketing these days.

Please share with us any event/s that you have planned in marketing your book/s: My next planned marketing event is a book signing at the Hall County Library on Main Street in Gainesville, Georgia, Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 6:00 p.m.

Other events ( such as interviews and reviews) will be those set up through contacts with my friends on Facebook, Goodreads, LinkedIn, and other social media.

Do you wish to share any additional information with our readers?: Yes. First I wish to say to those who are reading this that I regard you now as my readers, and I love you for that.

I've tried to become better and better with each successive novel that I've written, and I have, enough to say that my current novel, OF GOOD AND EVIL, is my best published novel. My great novel. My masterpiece. The most polished work I've ever written. I've put all of my passion into this novel.

I say this not for self-promotion, but because it's the truth! For promotion of my current novel, as always, I leave it up to my readers. Some of them say, "It's spellbinding," but let me give you more specific reader feedback as follows:

"I am reading Griff's book at present. I have read thousands of books but I've never had the author in such close contact. Enjoying it immensely, can't wait to find out the outcome. It will of course be made into a movie/TV series."
Bill Dickson, Great Britain

I am elated to read a brilliant mastermind in this writing genre, as yourself, and I am thrilled at being enthralled in a novel of this outstanding character."
Meg Collins, Maryland

"I read a fantastic, exciting story. The best of humanity, sorrow and love are mixed and engrossed in one conflict. So spectacular!"
Jana, Indonesia

"I am really honored by your novel. It is nice to know someone has honored the military service in a book."
Private 2 Jacob Thomas, Kentucky

You can see why I love my readers. It is for them that I write.

Of Good and Evil - Gerald Griffin
OF GOOD AND EVIL
Gerald G. Griffin

Backcover Description: Ron Sheffield,a gifted but tormented Green Beret, plagued by suicidal guilt because of his "special" abilities, is discharged from the army for going "crazy." Immediately, he is brutally beaten and shot by the Mafia, and is hospitalized near death. His life is dramatically saved by Amber Ash, who also possesses "special" abilities; and from there the two are propelled against mobsters, terrorists, and a government cell out to kill them over Iraqi documents Ron possesses from his army service. Ron becomes a Mafia hit man, targeting fallen mobsters. This brings Ron and Amber into contact with the powerful and humane gifted secret society, Eros; this contact eventually actualiazing Ron's mental gifts to a point beyond his imagination. Ron is confronted with the imminent nuclear obliteration of a major American city by a suicidal terrorist cell that only he can stop. But will he be able to do it in time? Of Good and Evil is a spiritual fight against tyranny.

Book Review/s to share: A thriller for today, with bad guys ranging from "Low" Mafia to a myopic government even more dangerous for its gross incompetence; to conscienceless Al Qaeda plots to destroy Weatern civilization. A relevant, exciting page-turner that reads like sharply focused movie. Crisp, clean and clear...spits out action like a Gatlin gun in a hard-charging tale making this a great, and essential, read! Jack Kaplan, Playwright

This book presents an awakening consciousness not to be denied. Slillfully done with continuity, action and intrigue. Hard time putting this down. I highly recommend. Paul Phillips, Captain, USAR

A good read. Well-assembled and fast-moving as a brilliant young Green Beret officer, unjustifiably discharged from the military, strives to overcome agonizing guilt brought on by paranormal prescience. Among other troubles, this marks him for death by a treacherous political cell of his government and brings him into conflict with a divinely gifted secret society. Strengthened by a truly wonderful love relationship, he desperately struggles to prevent national disaster by Al Qaeda. Strongly recommended as exciting entertainment that reveals provocative thought on the terrorist threat to the United States.
Colonel Rodney Harms
Former British Defence Advisor
