Author Meeting Place Interviews Author Tory Richards of Winter Haven, Florida USA
Bio: A little about moi. I'm in my early fifties, am happily married, have one daughter and one granddaughter. And a niece who's like my second daughter. I honestly don't know what I'd do without any one of them.
On top of writing, I work full time. So basically I'm working all the time. At work I'm on the computer, at home I'm on the computer. I even bought a lap top so I could spend the evenings with my hubby in front of the TV.
Writing is a hobby for me. My goals are simple and realistic. By the time I retire I'll be happy if I'm just making enough "mad money" from it to be able to travel a little and spoil my grandchildren. It's the icing on the cake.
I like to travel any place a cruise ship will take me. I don't like to fly and was on a plane on 9/11. I collect antiques, most especially crocks, and art. I love chocolate, who doesn't? And good coffee. Barnies has the best!
I've wanted to be a writer since I was a kid, only life got in the way of my dreams. A few years ago I decided to get serious, and after the encouragement of my daughter and niece submitted to a publisher.
My first book, "CUPID'S ARROW", published under my real name, was on the publisher's best sellers list for two consecutive months.
How many book/s have you written?: I have eight published books to date but only five are still on the market.
Please share with us your book titles: CUPID'S ARROW THE SENATOR'S DAUGHTER WICKED DESIRE IT'S ALL IN THE JEANS THE COWBOY WAY
What genre/s would you like to write in?: The genres I write in are contemporary suspense romance, and contemporary erotic romance.
Please share with us who or what encourages you to write and why?: Writing is my passion and has been since I was in grade school. I loved fairytales where the handsome prince would swoop in and rescue the beautiful princess. And they would live happily ever after. I guess I felt real life should be like that.
How long did it take for you to write your book/s?: If the juices aren't flowing I can't make myself write so some books can take me a year or more to write. Plus, I'm always bouncing back and forth between projects. I have a file filled with books in various degrees of completion that will eventually see, the end.
How long did it take for you to publish your book/s?: Once I actively tried to get published I'd say I had my first contract in six months.
Who did you publish with and why?: Whiskey Creek Press and New Concepts Publishing are the first publishers I went with. Both are epublishers but with Whiskey Creek Press your books are also offered in print. I love epubs! Your books have a longer shelf life. You don't have to wait years to hear back from someone. Everything is done online, which isn't going away. Also, they have broader publishing guidelines.
Please share with us how you prefer to market your book/s?: Gee, I do anything and everything I can. It was a real eye opener for me when I got published for the first time. So much time and work goes into promoting your work. And it never stops. There isn't one thing I've found that works better than another. You have to spread yourself all over the internet and then some. Meaning you have to attend book conventions like Romantic Times, book signings, appearances. Mail off promo items. There's so much you can do. Some of it's free, some of it costs.
Please share with us any event/s that you have planned in marketing your book/s: I attended the 2009 Romantic Times Convention in Orlando Florida in April. Mainly because it was just down the street from me. It's very expensive but I wanted to attend at least one in my writing career. It was a great networking event for me. I met a lot of great people.
Do you wish to share any additional information with our readers?: I love to hear from readers, so don't be shy. Feel free to email me. I also have a blog, Romance with an Attitude, where we can exchange comments.

But as unexplained events occur and Laceys life becomes threatened, Chase vows to protect her. Her independent nature rebels against his arrogant, high-handed methods and tempers ignite. But it soon becomes apparent that their animosity is only a ruse for the gripping sexual longing stirring in their blood.
Book Review/s to share: Blue Ribbon Rating Five from Romance Junkies! "THE COWBOY WAY was excellent! Chase is the ultimate alpha, reluctant to express his feelings, controlling at times, but all in the best interests of Lacey.
Lacey is an excellent match for him. She is independent enough that he can't walk all over her, without making the mistake of being stupid about it. All in all, THE COWBOY WAY was an entertaining romp in the hay, complete with chaps, skinny-dipping, al fresco nookie, and all the things that are guaranteed to make you wish for a glass of ice water. Excellent job!"
Whipped Cream Reviews gives "THE COWBOY WAY" their Best Book rating! "I bow down in awe at Ms Richards's ability to craft, spin and captivate with the written word. This was without a doubt one of the best books I have read in a LONG time!"
"There is no doubt that I will be searching out much more of Ms Richards work to read and no doubt enjoy as much as I did this story. It is such a treat to find an author who can make you feel so strongly toward the story they have written. Ms Richards... you are my hero!"
