Author Meeting Place Interviews Author Dylan J Morgan of Norway, Europe
Bio: Now living and working in Norway, Dylan J Morgan was born in New Zealand and raised in the United Kingdom. He writes during those rare quiet moments amid a hectic family life: after dark, with limited sustenance, and when his creative essence is plagued the most by tormented visions.
His debut novel, HOSTS, has garnered positive reviews and is now available to purchase under the Novels section of his website. OCTOBER RAIN, a novella inspired by a dream about space, is available from Sonar 4 Publications in both print and e-book formats.
He has two short stories out in the Sonar4 anthology release, Gentlemen of Horror, in addition to stories appearing in the anthologies, War Wolves, Zombology III, and Horrology. His short story MELISSA, will be published in January 2010 in Issue 9 of Necrotic Tissue.
How many book/s have you written?: I have written two books that are currently published but in total I have written 5. I am currently writing book 6 and a 7th idea is in the formulating process.
Please share with us your book titles: My first published book is called Hosts, which was originally published in November 2008 by Wild Child Publishing in E-book format. It has since been re-released in print format towards the end of last year. My second book is a novella called October Rain, published in January 2010 by Sonar4 Publications in both print and E-book formats.
What genre/s would you like to write in?: I write in the horror genre, have always written in the horror genre and, with the exception of possibly blending other genres such as Sci-Fi and mystery into the plotlines, I will probably always write horror.
Please share with us who or what encourages you to write and why?: Ideas that wont leave my head until theyre written is a big reason for why I write. I just love creating stories and finding out where the plot will take me and who the characters will become.
How long did it take for you to write your book/s?: Hosts was written in about 5 to 6 months.. October Rain took about 4 months to write.
How long did it take for you to publish your book/s?: Hosts took almost a year to see publication as an E-Book, a further year to see print. October Rain took about 4 years to get accepted, mainly due to a lack of decent markets for novella-length books.
Who did you publish with and why?: Hosts was sent to a load of different publishing companies, both professional and small press and it just so happens that Wild Child Publishing came back with the only offer to date. I selected Sonar4 as a venue to send October Rain mainly because the company publishes horror, sci-fi and a combination of both. October Rain contains both elements of horror and sci-fi so Sonar4 was the ideal choice.
Do you wish to share any additional information with our readers?: information about me and my writing can be found at my website; www.dylanjmorgan.com. I have a myspace page which any reader or lover of horror can send a friend request; www.myspace.com/dylanjmorgan, and in addition both my books have promotional myspace pages: www.myspace.com/hostsnovel and www.myspace.com/octoberrainbook. http://www.sonar4publications.com/rain.html
