Bio: K.C. Lauer resides in the Hartford, CT area with her husband and daughter. She has an MBA in global management, and co-owns a painting company with her husband. In her spare time she is also a lead singer for her all original rock-n-roll band.
How many book/s have you written?: 1
Please share with us your book titles: The title of my book is Bad Girl Gone Mom. It was published as an e-book on 12/2/2010 and the hardcover/paper back versions published 12/10/2010.
What genre/s would you like to write in?: Non-fiction
Please share with us who or what encourages you to write and why?: As a child I loved to read. Having a hearing loss of almost 90% made it difficult for me to socialize with other children. After several surgeries, my hearing is now around 50% and with hearing aids, almost 80%. I have written professionally and academically for many years, but until recently, I never did it for pleasure. Writing allows me to touch others in a way that I cannot when I speak.
How long did it take for you to write your book/s?: 3 months
How long did it take for you to publish your book/s?: 6 weeks
Who did you publish with and why?: I chose to use Xlibris self-publishing because I knew nothing about the process. I wanted help with editing, listing the book on Ingram, getting the ISBN and copyright protection, developing the cover and marketing materials, etc. Now I am an author and publisher, and have retained the rights to my work. It cost me to do this but I feel it was worth it.
Please share with us how you prefer to market your book/s?: I am building a marketing platform that includes article writing, blogging, social networking, speaking engagements, interviews, and activism/philanthropy for GLBT and Gender development groups.
Please share with us any event/s that you have planned in marketing your book/s: This fall I will be attending the Big E, a huge exposition held in West Springfield MA for 17 days. I will be in the Connecticut Author's booth. Currently, I am also developing a virtual tour and will post more about it on my website in the near future.
Do you wish to share any additional information with our readers?: I have written many web articles in the last year or so, with the majority of my work posted at Yahoo!AC, under my real name Kay Balbi. (I used my maiden name KC Lauer for the book because of marketing/medical reasons). Here is a link - http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/665994/kay_balbi.html
Life is a journey, not a destination. Thanks for being a part of mine!
