Beast Warrior - Viking Werewolf
Beast Warrior : Viking Werewolf
Eva Gordon

Backcover Description: Beast Warrior is an historical paranormal romance that takes place during the Viking Era of the Dark Ages. A time when only the strong survive. It is the second book in the Wolf Maiden Chronicles, which depicts alpha lycans and their human wolf maiden mates. Sigurd, an alpha Norse wolfskin, son of Gunnolf the Red seeks revenge against shape shifting bearskins, Bork the Mad and his son, Mord the Blood Claw for the death of his parents and his older brother Guda. Orphaned, he has been raised by his older sister Brynhild, who convinces him to take a wolf maiden in order to increase their small pack. Despite the warning by Hungerd the wolf witch, he takes a farmer's new bride with tragic consequences. Alone he joins a long ship until the day he can avenge his pack's demise. Emelisse, a Frank wolf maiden, has been raised and educated in the classics, science, literature and languages by female lycans of the Lupercal. Born a runt with a weak heart her father has been overprotective. She refuses to be treated like a delicate vase and rebels by seeking out riding and falconry. Now at age eighteen Emelisse frets that her father wants her to accept Radulf III the Cruel, an alpha lycan of a pack of powerful warriors. She tries to run away with her human lover. Viking werewolf, Sigurd rescues Emelisse, from the claws of the berserker bear men. He claims her as his ulf hexen or wolf maiden, but she wants to leave lycan society and live with humans. To complicate matters she has been called by her goddess Feronia to save the lycans from a dreaded disease. Their union is wrought with great peril in a world where werewolves must battle against their own kind as well as their fierce enemy, the berserker bear men. Will Emelisse accept Sigurd a foreign lycan as her alpha mate? Sigurd vows to protect her from their enemies but how can he save her before she dies from her ailing heart?

Vivid and immediate, 'Beast Warrior: Viking Werewolf' opens in Frankland in AD825 in a dark wood. Chanteloup is the Alpha of his Lycan werewolf pack, concerned for his pregnant mate Elinor, one of the wolf-maidens. The pack can shift from wolf to human at full moon. As Alpha, Chanteloup can do so any time, as can Elinor. He returns to his home to find Elinor in labor with their child. Elinor has a daughter Emelisse, who is destined for greatness and also Lycan, although her mother dislikes this. (Frowned on by the medieval church, Lycans must be secret in their beliefs and shiftings.)

The action moves to Scandia, where nineteen-year-old Sigurd is hoping to fight the Bear Men, mad shape-shifting Berserkers who butchered his family. A Lycan werewolf, Sigurd the Red is a rare red-pelted wolf and a mighty red-headed man. Intent on revenge against the Bear Men and waiting his chance, he goes Viking with humans.

We now see an adult Emelisse, who is about to be betrothed to Radulf, a cruel man and Lycan whom she does not want. She publicly rejects Radulf, but the two packs want the betrothal. Emelisse, who also fears she is pregnant by Galien, a human, feels she has no choice but to leave her father and flee.

Radulf pursues them and kills Galien. That act and her father's refusal to free her from the betrothal makes Emelisse determined to leave the werewolf world.

Her father agrees to help her protect her unborn child and leave the kingdom for a year. She goes to Lapurdum Abbey. Sadly, she loses the child and soon after the abby is attacked by Bear Men.

Captured, she is rescued by Sigurd, who claims her as his true mate. In their escape from the Bear men Sigurd is injured and she rescues him. That is only the start of their adventures and their deep love for each other.

Full of excitement and full-blooded action, 'Beast Warrior: Viking Werewolf' is a compelling, epic read that is also richly sensual. I believe lovers of historical romance and paranormal romance will both really enjoy this novel. I particularly found the Lycans and their alternative history, gods, magic and beliefs utterly fascinating. I know that 'Beast Warrior: Viking Werewolf' will stay with me for a long time.

WOW!! Once again Eva Gordon has created a opulent and chivalric historical werewolf story. She has taken us back in time to Vikings, Valhalla, Lycans, and Wolf Maidens! This is a romantic, smart, adventurous saga you simply will not be able to put down. Please do not do yourself a disservice by missing out on this superb tale of love and war in the Dark Ages!! BRAVO Eva!! Once again you have captivated me with your writing! I cannot wait to read your next installment, White Wolf Of Avalon!

Emelisse was born too early. She was what many would have called a runt. And as the only child of an Alpha, and the beloved Wolf Maiden of the Goddess Feronia, she has a special place in the lycans future. But will she be strong enough to fulfill her destiny? Is the cruel Randulf truly meant to be her mate?

Sigurd has seen a horrific life. His father, mother, and older brother were slain by bear shifters, or bearskins. The only reason he lived was thanks to his older sister Brynhild. The only thing that kept what was left of his small pack was the wolf witch Hungred and her magic. But even her strong magic could not cure his beloved sister from the killing madness disease. Will the witch’s prophesy come true? Is this little Valkyrie meant to be his mate?

In a time of rampant disease, superstitious beliefs, and magic two people are drawn together by the fates. Will the pack runt turned Oracle be able to tame the Viking beast that she is drawn to? Or will her desire to be a normal human be too strong? Will the red haired Viking be able to put his wolf maiden before his need for vengeance?

I thoroughly enjoyed Werewolf Sanctuary, but I loved Beast Warrior. The mixture of history, superstition, and love held me in thrall. Eva Gordon truly shined in this installation of The Wolf Maiden Chronicles! This tale of vengeance was engrossing as I quickly flipped through the pages to find out what would happen next in the couple’s journey. If you are looking for an adult book to fuel the imagination then this is it! I cannot wait for White Wolf of Avalon.

Bitten By Books Review of Beast Warrior : Viking Werewolf

Beast Warrior: Viking Werewolf is the prequel to Eva Gordon’s Werewolf Sanctuary. The majority of the book takes place in ninth century France.

While hunting, Chanteloup, master alpha of all wolf packs in France, finds that his wolf maiden, Elinor, is about to deliver their child a month early. Emelisse is a runt with a frail heart, but the head of the Lupercal council prophesies that she will claim a mighty warrior as her alpha who will bring all the packs together. The prophecy also states that she will find a cure to the disease that causes her kind to go mad with rage. As a grown woman, Emelisse wants nothing more than to be a regular human. Emelisse has been raised by her father's lover, Isabelle, since her mother died when she was four. She has fallen in love with a local peasant named Galien. Chanteloup, though, has already given permission to Radulf, the strongest alpha the right to claim his daughter. As she meets up with her human love, Galien, Radulf strikes and kills the young man. Chanteloup and Lupa, leader of the Luperal council, allow Emelisse to go away for one year before she must mate with Radulf.

Emelisse plans to run away, hide with the humans and never mess with werewolves again. Unfortunately, the place she runs off to is attacked by the bearshifters, and she is captured.

Siguard, Son of Gunnolf, is nineteen years old and already pack leader. When he was only four, Siguard watched as Bork The Mad, leader of the Bearshifters, killed his parents and siblings. He has sworn vengeance on the shifters known as the Beserkers. It has been told by their witches that he will find his wolf maiden in a far away land. Brynhild, Siguard’s sister, and three others are all that remains of his pack. Sadly, the plague takes out his sister and three remaining pack members. With nothing left in Norway, Siguard travels with a group of Viking raiders attacking along the coast of France. When he learns that the Beserkers are in France, he leaves to hunt down his sworn enemy. When he arrives at the Bearshifters’ camp, he notices that they have a wolf maiden captured. Instead of revenge, Siguard can only think about saving this beautiful woman from the Beserkers. The rest of Beast Warrior involves the fight to save the wolf packs in France from the Bearshifters and the romance between Siguard and Emelisse. The threats are not just from the Bearshifters, though, and Siguard must also deal with the mighty alpha wolf Radulf who still wants Emelisse to be his wolf maiden.

The story was well paced, and the romance between Siguard and Emelisse is great. There are plenty of huge battles that take place throughout the book and work well with the romance. The book ties in neatly with Werewolf Sanctuary. If you liked Eva Gordon’s writing from book one, then you won’t be disappointed with book two Beast Warrior Viking Werewolf. The third book White Wolf of Avalon will take place 400 years before the events of book two.

Okay, now onto Ms. Eva Gordon. I befriended Ms. Gordon this past fall, and she is a very nice, intelligent, multi-talented woman. She writes and she has a background in biology. She crusades to keep wolves from becoming extinct and she's taught classes on falconry (how cool is that?!?!?! That's something I've always wanted to try and hopefully, Eva can give me a lesson). When I saw that her novels were romances, I thought, "I'd really like to read one, but it's just not my genre." Then I saw that she wrote a novel mixing Vikings with werewolves, and I just had to read it.

Okay -- I'm just not a romance novel-type girl. It's just not my thing to read very descriptive love scenes, or fantasies wherein the female is delicate and protected by a strong male. Let me clearly state that this does not make for a bad novel; it's just not my preferred reading.

So let me say -- I liked Beast Warrior: Viking Werewolf, and I'm looking forward to its sequel, White Wolf of Avalon, which is due to be released next month. In Beast Warrior, the heroine, Emelisse, is a bit delicate, but Eva takes pains to make her likeably stubborn and accomplished in archery, horseback riding, and falconry. The hero, Sigurd, is an alpha werewolf, tall and strong, but he is soft and gentle when it comes to Emelisse. What I really enjoyed about the novel was the story and the research behind it. Ms. Gordon spins an intricate tale of magic and shape-shifting (tying in the bear-skin-clad Viking berserkers with clans of humans who shape-shift into bears), of pack dynamics and human interactions. The research regarding life at the time during the Dark Ages, complete with Viking raids and the dreaded blood eagle, are all in there. I especially liked the fact that while men may be the dominant pack leaders, the women hold the magical power of witchcraft (and there's nothing like magic in a story to make it really enjoyable!). If you like historical romance with detailed love scenes then this really is a book for you. Even if you just like Vikings and want to read an historical fiction of the time period, I recommend it because it's a good, interesting read.

More on Ms. Gordon can be found on her website, her blog (wherein she answers questions regarding werewolf lore and has interviewed several notable vampires), and she is a supporter of Howling Acres Wolf Sanctuary, which is a notable cause that deserves attention.

Werewolf Santuary - Eva Gordon
Werewolf Sanctuary
Eva Gordon

Backcover Description: Werewolf Sanctuary, an action packed romance between an alpha male lycan, and his wolf maiden. The first in a series titled, The Wolf Maiden Chronicles, each depicts historical romances between alpha Males and their human wolf maidens. Since ancient times, the Lupercal Council has kept their people's werewolf identity a well-guarded secret. Referring to their kind as lycans, they shift into a bear-sized wolf, bearing unique markings reminiscent of Maori or Celtic tattoos. The pack shifts during the full moon and are under the control of their alpha male leader. The alpha male and alpha female are not bound by the full moon and can shift at will. Lycans can only breed with their kind. The exception are the alpha males, which can only mate with human women known as wolf maidens, who bear the five-toed paw print or mark of the wolf on their left hip. The story begins with Lupercal society in peril due to an unknown disease infecting their young offspring.!

The children who do survive the pestilence, shift too early into wolf cubs, lose their distinct markings, and end up becoming normal wolves, unaware of their human consciousness. Normally immune to most known diseases, the Lupercal has few of their own doctors and must seek the help of a human outsider to find the cure. Wyatt Weylin, alpha male of the Montana pack, and leader of a team of mercenary lycans, flies to a World Wolf Conference in San Francisco, where he hopes to convince leading authority on wolf diseases, veterinarian Dr. Madeline Styles to come to his wolf sanctuary and find a cure. The minute he sees her he feels drawn to her striking good looks. The sensory chemistry is instant. He tries to suppress the feeling, knowing that he is forbidden to fall for a human. Wyatt discovers that the vegetarian animal doctor has the mark of the wolf and he claims her as his life mate. Madeline slowly learns about Wyatt s true nature and the fact that she has been claimed, and like all lycans, wolf maidens are microchipped to prevent escape.

She is told that she has three moons to decide if Wyatt is the right alpha for her, and if not, she must choose another. However, she can never leave their society. Angered and confused she first balks at the idea until she witnesses the entire pact shift, and learns that her own grandmother was a wolf maiden who lost the alpha mate and love of her life. Feeling the strong connection with Wyatt, she decides to pursue the cure to the lycan cub disease. To complicate matters Bisclavaret, Wyatt s enemy and bad alpha lycan from the Bayou, is determined to make Madeline his wolf maiden, one way or another.

Let me just start by saying I finished this book in 2 days! Please everyone do your romantic soul a favor and go out and get yourself a copy. The romance and humor grabbed me from page 1. I am breathlessly awaiting the release of Beast Warrior your next installment!

An excellent first installment from a great new author, May 11, 2009

This review is from: Werewolf Sanctuary (Paperback)
A devastating illness is ravaging the lycan packs around the world. Helpless to save themselves, the Alphas of the surviving packs agree to bring in a human specialist. Wyatt, the alpha of the Montana pack, contacts Madeline Styles, a local vet and wolf expert, to try to find out what is harming their packs, and find a cure. What Wyatt discovers when he meets Madeline is that she is a wolf maiden-a very rare woman who can mate an alpha werewolf, and bear his children. The attraction between Wyatt and Madeline is instantaneous, but will Madeline understand when Wyatt reveals his secret? Will Madeline be able to cure the mysterious disease before more lycan children are afflicted? Will the dangerous enemy hunting Madeline end their love before it has a chance to grow?

This was an amazing story! Ms. Gordon creates an enthralling spin on the legend of the werewolf, complete with her own version of the mythology surrounding them. The characters are very well written, and the reader instantly empathizes with the plight of the lycans. The chemistry between Wyatt and Madeline is very believable, and really will make you wish for a lycan of your own! The secondary characters are also very well written, and Ms. Gordon manages to create the perfect balance of personalities. Even the villains were very well done! All in all, this was an excellent start to what I am sure will be an amazing series. I look forward to reading more from this author!

A paranormal romance you can sink your teeth into., June 2, 2009
By G. Pruszkowski "bookworm_gp" (Philadelphia, PA USA) -

This review is from: Werewolf Sanctuary (Paperback)
[...]

Werewolves are the stuff of legends, personifying wildness and inspiring fear and fascination. If you love these mysterious creatures you'll enjoy "Werewolf Sanctuary" by Eva Gordon. It's the first book in the "Wolf Maiden Chronicles," a paranormal romance you can sink your teeth into.

After his plane crashes in enemy territory in Afghanistan, Colin Taylor is rescued by Special Forces. But this force is more special than most. Wyatt Weylyn and his six man team are Lycans, men who can shape-shift into wolves. They will earn twenty million dollars for this mission, money they can use for their wolf sanctuary in Montana.

A mysterious ailment is killing Lycan children. The disease is affecting all the packs and the number of Lycans is dwindling. It's time to call in outside help. Wyatt is hoping to recruit a veterinarian, Dr. Madeline B. Styles, to research a cure. He goes to a seminar in San Francisco where she is a keynote speaker on the Ethiopian Wolf. There's an immediate attraction and when Wyatt discovers she has the mark of the wolf, he claims her for his mate. When Madeline learns Wyatt's true nature and is told she must accept him or another alpha, she's angry and confused. Can Madeline accept Wyatt and her heritage? Or will she succumb to Wyatt's worst enemy who is determined to have her for himself.

Eva Gordon makes it easy to believe that Lycans really exist. Her background in science and her love of wildlife add a reality to her story that makes it truly convincing. She puts a new spin on werewolf mythology and has created a society that's detailed and well thought out. The characters are fully developed. Wyatt, the alpha male werewolf, is a delicious hero. The animalistic yet sensual love scenes between him and Madeline heat up the pages.

If you like a good story with romance, steamy sexual encounters and action, then look no farther. This is a terrific debut; I can't wait for book two.

Werewolf Sanctuary, May 29, 2009
By Elizabeth Touchette (San Francsico, CA) -

This review is from: Werewolf Sanctuary (Paperback)

Vampires are just so last year. Their immortal life, dark, sophisticated clothing and sexy feeding style will always be appealing, but in 2009, the werewolf has become the supernatural character of choice. Why? With the continuing economic chaos, and environmental crisis, the werewolf, with his disheveled fur and ravenous eating, is a more accurate projection of our inner fears.

A good book entertains, but also helps us face what we dread the most.

"Werewolf Sanctuary" begins with its heroine, Madeline (Maddie) B. Styles, weeping on an airplane. Although a world renowned veterinarian, she feels devastated when her fiancé, Mark Tellington, dumps her. A vegetarian environmental lawyer, he was her idea of the modern perfect man: Maddie's mother picks her up at their airport, and takes her to back childhood home.

After presenting at a conference, Maddie, meets Wyatt Weyln, a ruggedly handsome manager of a wolf sanctuary in Montana. He begs her to investigate an outbreak that is killing the sanctuary's cubs.

Maddie decides to take the job, but she initially finds her strong attraction to Wyatt annoying. She feels unprofessional. As they spend more time together, their smoldering passion ignites. Maddie surrenders to her animal instincts.

"His scent was intoxicating and primal, like the forest, reminding her of pheromones she no longer thought noticeably existed anymore."

Maddie and Wyatt make passionate love, and for the first time in her sexual life, Maddie has an orgasm.

Wyatt reveals his werewolf nature to Maddie. Seeing him in his wolf form, Maddie is impressed by his intricate markings, and playful puppy nature. I loved how the author continually reminded us of the werewolf's animal nature. Wyatt had graduated with honors from Stanford, but he urinated at every corner of Maddie's mother's house, to remind other werewolves that Maddie was his. Wyatt eats his meat rare, with gusto.

The author creates a lush werewolf world, complete with history, governing council, and mainframe computer. Of course, there are villains, which make this book a real page turner. I was entertained, but I was also left with the surprising thought that Gordon's werewolf world might be an ideal for our own, where our animal nature is not suppressed, but integrated into daily, ceremonial and of course, romantic, life.

Fantastic start for new series, May 18, 2009
By Monica Stewart (Castro Valley, CA) -

This review is from: Werewolf Sanctuary (Paperback)
I typically tend to be more passionate about reading vampire novels when it comes to the supernatural fiction collection. Nonetheless to my surprise I became intrigued with this book! It had all the elements that would grab my attention. It was an exhilarating page turner from the beginning to end. The story begins with a burst of action although the author keeps the reader informed by explaining the main character's (Wyatt Weylyn) origin, we do not get uninterested. Maddie our love interest is just wonderful. I felt connected to her character. She was down to earth and went through what many single women go through before they find their soul mates. She is a doctor in the biology of wolves and has a specialty in their diseases as well. At Wyatt's wolf sanctuary, the wolf cubs have been succumbing to various ailments including death. Wyatt is on a mission to hopefully cure and resolve this issue and Maddie has to deal with sudden new changes to her life in ways she never exp!
ected to happen. How do their lives intertwine, you must read to find out. This is a guaranteed enjoyable read! There is a generous amount of romance, action, intrigue and paranormal that would get you energized.

This review is from: Werewolf Sanctuary (Paperback)
Werewolf Sanctuary by Eva Gordon will appeal to those who lust for alpha males with jealous and warrior streaks. Eva combines animal biology with a fictional legend of werewolf Lupercii lasting for hundreds of years. And last but not least, hot erotic scenes where animal thoughts and urges come out within the alpha male werewolf hero, Wyatt Weylin. You have your typical Bay Area prototype, Dr. Madeline Styles, living in Marin, getting over her cheating fiancé, a vegetarian, and doing runs and riding bikes for pleasure. She falls in love instantly with Wyatt Weylin, a meat lover werewolf from Montana who attended her lecture at a Wolf Conference in San Francisco. Wyatt immediately is drawn to Madeline before finding out about a birthmark of a wolf paw on her body, which turns red when he touches her. This means that she is his wolf maiden, according to Feronia, Goddess of the lycans and that he must claim her. Wyatt offers her a job, helping to cure an unusual disease found i!
n wolf cubs at a Wolf Sanctuary in Montana. She accepts it, while falling for him in hot passionate animal like sex. She wonders why he is always making werewolf innuendo jokes.

Whatever, right? Just coincidence.

The story is well paced with interesting facts about biology. The climactic thriller scene had me hooked. Originally I wasn't a werewolf reader but Ms. Gordon's stories about them have me intrigued and looking on the shelves for other werewolf stories. Even though, in ways they are complete opposites Madeline and Wyatt's characters are deep and succeed in their relationship. Let's start with diet! The villains were scary enough for me to cringe and keep on reading. I enjoyed the book because of its educational content as well as the animalistic lustful love scenes and I recommend it to those who are open to learn about new paranormal fantasies.

A thrilling read from start to finish, May 31, 2009

This review is from: Werewolf Sanctuary (Paperback)
From the very first page, this is a page-turning read, hooking the reader from start to finish. I couldn't put it down! The suspense combined with a sweet romance makes for a very satisfying read. Whether the reader is familiar with werewolves/Lycans or not, the book presents these mythological beasts in a very clear and fascinating way. After reading the book, the reader comes out with a sound knowledge of Lycan/werewolf lore. Further, the reader is reminded of the existence of pure, unconditional romantic love.

I can't wait for the next book in the series!!!

Here is the review, I hope you'll like it. Feel free to use it just mention my name. I can't wait for the next novel... When will it come out?

Welcome to all who are new, enjoy!
This is one of my most favorite reviews, partly because when I read the back of Werewolf Sanctuary, by Eva Gordon, I read Romance/Paranormal. I ma the first to admit i don't normally read romance, but I do reviews of book so I jumped in.
I can say that this is one of the best novels in the Romance genre I've read. I enjoyed in and read it twice to give my honest perception of the book. It starts with a character I can identify with, Madeline, and her job in the everyday world. Intelligent and everything a heroine should be.
The book heats up when, it dives into the past and into her life as a person. It is by far the best part of the book, as it deals with the relationship between her grandmother and herself, the book become more powerful because of it. it also deals with World War Two and the effects of loss and love eternal.
Gordon makes such a strong heroine the hero is equally important. Like her heroine the hero is strong willed and brave, but is also temperamental, which gives a more rounded hero than what is normally expected from a typical romance novel.
Gordon is a wonder author who draws the reader into the book with a grace and intelligence and captures their imagination. With a few plot twists that are surprising but handled well, this makes for a far more entertaining book.
This is a superb start to her series, which i can't wait to review when the next book comes out. I'll be recommending this to anyone, and it can be bought at amazon, for a very reasonable price.

Title: Beast Warrior: Viking Werewolf
Author: Eva Gordon

Long ago in Europe, a very special girl was born. At her birth, a seer prophesied that through her, all the Lycan packs would unite, and a great evil would be defeated. She was also destined to be the mate of the greatest Lycan alpha, and theirs would be a love for all times.

Emelisse was a very special girl. Born prematurely, she was the treasured daughter of a powerful Lycan alpha and his beloved wolf maiden. Because of her early birth, she had always been protected, since her heart was weak. As she grew, Emelisse trained with the skilled Lycan healers, learning everything they could teach her. When her father arranged her marriage to an alpha she despised, Emelisse decided that she would run away, and live with the other humans. However, her plans went awry, and after a series of unfortunate events, she found herself captured by the fierce Viking Bearskins, who were known for their terrible cruelty. What would happen to Emelisse? Will she die at the hands of the enemy of her people, or does the goddess Feronia have greater things in store for her?

Sigurd had lived a very hard life. As one of the few Northern Wolfskins, he was the last of his pack. When his parents were killed by bearskins, he and his sister escaped. However, his sister was infected with a horrible disease that caused her to go insane, and murder dozens of people. Devastated by yet another loss, and vowing vengeance on the bears who had killed his parents, Sigurd left the Northland and joined a Viking crew, trying to track down the raiders who killed his family. When he finally found them, he discovered Emelisse, the woman destined to be his. Will Sigurd be able to move past his need for vengeance? Will Emelisse be able to help him save himself?

Beast Warrior: Viking Werewolf by Eva Gordon
Paranormal Romance
4 ˝ Stars

Beast Warrior is the second book in the Wolf Maiden Chronicles series and even though it's the second book in the series it can easily be read on its own. This book has a wonderful mix of romance while still being true to the werewolf mythology.

As someone who isn't a big fan of the paranormal romance genre I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but was very delighted to discover that the story grabbed me immediately right from the beginning.

Beast Warrior takes place during the Viking Era and is the story of the Alpha male Lycan (werewolf) named Sigurd, son of Gunnolf. He desires to find the shape shifting berserker (a man who turns into a bear) called Bork the Mad and his son, Mord the Blood Claw. These Bersekers killed many of his family and most of his pack. But his sister Brynhild wishes for him to take an ulf hexen or wolf maiden. A human woman who is destined to be a pack leader's life mate. Brynhild wants to increase their pack instead. Unfortunately, things go disastrously wrong in the attempt and Sigurd loses his sister as well as the rest of his pack making him a lone wolf. He gives up any hope of finding a true life mate and heads out across the sea to seek revenge on the berserkers who killed his parents and brother.

Across the seas in the Frank Kingdom we meet Emelisse the daughter of a Alpha male who is a wolf maiden and despite being born a "runt" with a weak heart. She is promised by her father to Radulf the Third, an alpha lycan of a pack of powerful warriors but runs away with her human lover with disastrous results. She is captured by the beserker bear men where she luckily meets Sigurd who rescues her and claims her for himself. Despite their wish to live together among the humans they both have a destiny in the lycan world and are drawn back into it to save both their werewolf family as well as all of mankind.

Beast Warrior is an excellent story that is a fantastic mix of intriguing characters as well as a nicely developed story. Sigurd and Emelisse were both characters that made you like them right on the spot. In addition to the 2 main characters, the other cast members were vastly appealing and made me want to find out what will happen to them as well. I appreciated the author's ability to explain some of the werewolf mythology in a way so that someone unknown could understand it without making it too difficult and confusing.

All of these benefits make this an excellent book and one that will make you want to go out right away to get this author's other works!

Today I'm reviewing my online friend Eva Gordon's contemporary paranormal romance novel, Werewolf Sanctuary, the first book of her Wolf Maiden Chronicles series. I'm also happy to say that in a couple of weeks I'll be interviewing Eva right here on TAMFA so keep looking for it this month. Now to my review of Eva Gordon's novel which I had such fun reading that I finished it up in less than a day because I couldn't stop reading it that I didn't sleep until it was almost past midnight. Since ancient times, the Lupercal Council has kept their people’s werewolf identity a well-guarded secret from humans around the world and they generally refer to their kind as lycans instead of werewolves. The lycan shifts into a bear-sized wolf, bearing unique markings reminiscent of Maori or Celtic tattoos and the pack only shifts during the full moon and are under the control of their alpha male leader. The alpha male and alpha female are not bound by the full moon and can shift at will unli!
ke the other lycans of their pack. Though the lycans can only breed with their kind there is an exception with the alpha males, who can only mate with human women known as wolf maidens. These human women bear the five-toed paw print or mark of the wolf on their left hip that they have from the time of their births while the female alphas of the lycan packs are sterile but are the leading lycans governing the Lupercal Council.

The Lupercal society is in peril due to an unknown disease infecting their young offspring and the children that survive the pestilence shift too early into wolf cubs, lose their distinct markings, and end up becoming normal wolves unaware of their human consciousness. Normally immune to most known diseases, the Lupercal has few of their own doctors and must seek the help of a human outsider to find the cure. Wyatt Weylin, our hero and the alpha male of the Montana pack and leader of a team of mercenary lycans, flies to a World Wolf Conference in San Francisco, where he hopes to convince leading authority on wolf diseases, veterinarian Dr. Madeline Styles to come to his wolf sanctuary and find a cure. Now the minute he sees her he feels drawn to her striking good looks and the sensory chemistry is instant from the moment he sees as well as smells her from across the crowded conference room. He tries to suppress the feeling knowing that he is forbidden to fall for a human wom!
an but life gets complicated when Wyatt discovers that the vegetarian animal doctor has the mark of the wolf and is his life mate. But that's not all because though Wyatt and Maddie have this instant attraction to one another that feels like they finally have found that other piece of the puzzle to their soul there is someone in the Lycan community that wants to destroy their new found love.

OMG and Wow! That is what I had to say when I finished reading this novel because I couldn't believe how great a read it was. From the start of this novel I became addicted to the characters Wyatt and Madeline because I knew that they would have a lot to tell me about themselves as well as the relationship that I knew was going to happen between them throughout this novel. There were many plot twists and turns that had me glued to this novel making me want more and more as well as making me wish that it would never end. I found out that this Lycan world that Eva created was very intriguing because it is such a complex world that I had fun learning everything I could about it while reading this novel. Wyatt and Maddie are such wonderful characters that have a lot of growing to do in this novel because they have been living without each other for their entire lives so now that they have finally met and fallen in love they need to adjust to their new lives together. Along the w!
ay they will have many tough and dangerous obstacles that will be blocking their way to finally having their happily ever after with each other. Eva Gordon delivers an intriguing tale of lycans and humans that is at times so believable I felt as though I'm right there with Wyatt and Maddie. From the first page to the very last page, this novel tells of an entertaining journey into the the lycan world that will give you a thrill ride in this contemporary paranormal romance. Werewolf Sanctuary has more than enough romance, plot twits and turns to give readers a page turner with satisfying experience and I look forward to more of the Wolf Maiden Chronicles series especially her next book in the series which is a historical paranormal romance called, Beast Warrior: Viking Werewolf. I give this book 4.5 Open Books:
