In “Essential English Book 2 Grades 5 to 6” by Kathi Wyldeck we learn the basics of using our English language. We learn things from nouns to punctuation.  She does not just teach you in the written form but also teaches you reading comprehension as well as speaking the language. As I had the pleasure of reviewing book three I found out that I did not have the knowledge of the English language that I thought I did. It’s amazing how much I learned from this author’s books. The book is a great asset to anyone teaching English or needing assistance to learn English.

The Essential English - Book 3
Kathi Wyldeck

Carol’s thoughts:  “The Essential English - Book 3” by Kathi Wyldeck is a wonderful teaching tool for those that are in school and need to get a better grasp of the English language.  I learned quite a lot from the book that I did not know.  I had my sister read it as a user of the book as she is going for her GED this year.

Laura’s thoughts:    I loved “The Essential English - Book 3”. I have a learning disability and still found it user friendly. I had a small problem on page 61 on the Noun Clauses. I think it could have been explained better. I also would have liked to have seen the phonics section in the front of the book before you started with the nouns.

After going through the entire book it was all you said it was. Definitely need to do Book 1 and 2 before you attempt book 3, if you don’t have a good grasp of the English language.

Games for Fun, Fitness and Learning
Kathi Wyldeck

Kathi Wyldeck has created a wonderful resource with “Games for Fun, Fitness and Learning”. I have been home schooling for more than 10 years and this is by far the best resource I have found. The games are wonderfully geared to teach subjects across the board. They reinforce all aspects of curriculum. I wish this had been available to me when I first started home schooling. My daughter and I have been doing the foreign language games and we both are rapidly learning. I would recommend this book not only to home schooled children but to parents of public schooled children as well to assist in mastering areas that may need addressing. HIGH 5 Stars.

Writing Practice Workbook - Kathi Wyldeck
Writing Practice Workbook
Kathi Wyldeck

This workbook provides almost 200 pages of ideas for writing practice, starting with sentences, progressing to paragraphs, and finally offering a variety of composition topics. The sentence and paragraph exercises are organised into themes, such as animals, transport and sports, while the composition exercises give practice in narrative, descriptive, informative and persuasive essays. Plenty of space is provided for each exercise, so that students can keep a record, in one handy book, of all the writing performed over a period of time. The book can be shared by several family members, (making a wonderful family memento), with the younger children working on their sentences and paragraphs, while the older ones practise their compositions. Alternatively, the workbook can be used by ESL students of all ages and stages who wish to improve their written English through regular writing practice.

Book Review/s to share: This simple but useful writing practice workbook is ideal for encouraging children to write a small amount every day in order to improve their written expression. Each sentence page requires just eight sentences to be written from the words provided, each paragraph page asks for three paragraphs on a given theme, and the composition pages offer a wide variety of unusual topics for story, report and essay writing practice.
