What genre/s would you like to write in? Fiction: True Crime
Please share with us who or what encourages you to write and why: I have always thought that I had life experiences that would make good books. The problem is that although as a police officer I wrote daily reports, I have no formal writing education. I enjoy writing but a good editor is required to polish my transcript. My writing is improving as I practice. It has been suggested to me that I just write is as a cop, and thats all good and well, but the writing style of a police officer is like reading a legal document.
How long did it take for you to write your book/s? about 6 months
How long did it take for you to publish your book/s? 90 days. (I'm self published) The next one will be much quicker
Who did you publish with and why: I self published for economic reasons. As a new author I found it astounding when I learned how little the author's take was on the sales price of a book. I believe I made the right decision. I formed my own publishing company and welcome any author to join me. It will not be the traditional author/publisher relationship wherein the publisher takes all the money and the author is left with little. There is however nothing I can do about the huge take by Amazon, Borders etc:
Please share with us how you prefer to market your book/s: I prefer to market my book on the internet. I do realize that it's necessary to also offer the book over the counter of book stores and on Amazon, but the financial benefit of this is minimal. The exposure can be beneficial.
Please share with us any event/s that you have planned in marketing your book/s: In June a press release went out to all major media particpants. During the month of July I will be concentrating on internet marketing such as this site.
